My Long Weekend
By Natasha
I have been living in BC for almost two years now but I have never strayed far from the Lower Main Land area. So, this BC Day long weekend I decided to explore my new home province a little more. I set out on to take on the scenic “Duffy Lake Loop.”

On the first night I stayed just south of Whistler very close to Brandywine Falls. It was a spectacular 70 meter waterfall with a view far out over a deep valley. I did some hiking and went swimming in the river (below the falls of course). It was very cold but refreshing!

The next day I made a stop at Joffre Lake Provincial Park North of Pemberton. I got to see the glacier there as well the green mountain lake. I will definitely go back there to do some hiking some day!

The heat wave is over now but during my trip through Lillooet the town was being evacuated because of forest fires! There were helicopters dropping water and flame retardant onto the fires. It was very exciting to watch but I didn’t stay too long!

I didn’t realize how much there was to explore in BC only a few hours away from Vancouver. What an amazing province; I can’t wait to get out and explore more!
